General Community Meetings are on the last Tuesday of every month (except July and December). Everyone welcome!
At the Renfrew Community Association we believe that by creating strong bonds between people, we have the ability to keep the “small town feel” that has always set our community apart.
The Renfrew Community Centre is literally at the centre of the community, and offers a variety of programs and services to enhance our neighbourhood life. Many social opportunities help residents get to know each other and to continue to foster the “small town” feel that has made Renfrew a cozy and comfortable community for over 60 years. As well, there are ongoing opportunities for residents to become involved in the decision-making processes that shape our community and to voice concerns and bring forth new ideas. We are a friendly and forward-thinking community that values residents, local businesses, sustainable and attractive development and, at the centre of it all, a sense of community.
Renfrew was established in the 1940s, after the Calgary Airport relocated from its original site on the corner of 6th Street and Regal Crescent. It was primarily built for veterans and their families, many of whom still live here today.
Renfrew is a vibrant inner city community in Calgary, bordered by Edmonton Trail to the west, Nose Creek Valley to the east, the TransCanada Highway to the north and the Bow River escarpment to the south. The downtown core is within three kilometers and is directly accessible by Edmonton Trail.
The many independently owned shops, cafes and restaurants along Edmonton Trail create a vibrant “Main Street”. The proximity to downtown, combined with the “small town” neighborhood feel, make this the perfect community for those looking for inner-city conveniences without the hustle and bustle of downtown living.
Renfrew is a community that lends itself to an active lifestyle. Within our community you will find the city-run Renfrew Aquatic and Fitness Centre, the Renfrew Athletic Park and two Arenas. Residents also enjoy direct access to walking and cycling paths as Renfrew borders the Nose Creek Bike path, which connects in the north with the West Nose Creek pathways and in the south with the Bow River Pathways.
Renfrew is a community for all ages with fitness facilities, fields, playgrounds, schools, churches, the Calgary Boys and Girls Club and the Renfrew 50+ Club right in our neighbourhood. The Calgary Zoo, the Tom Campbell's Hill off leash area, and the Spark Science Centre are within walking distance.
Renfrew really is a great place to be, and it really is A COMMUNITY THAT CARES.
